One of the greatest things in life is being a daddy! Ever since I was a kid I knew I wanted to be a dad (and a CHP officer like “Poncherello”).

We have been blessed with 2 great kids. Both unique and TOTALLY different from each other.

CARIS MARIE

Pronounced “care-iss” means God’s grace in Greek. She really stands true to her name. This little girl came out of the womb smiling! Here is a picture of me and her at 10 minutes old (photo credit our Maternity Nurse Julie)

Here our some recent portraits I took of her a couple of months ago.

The more you tell them NOT to jump on the bed the higher they bounce!

GAVIN

Gavin is our first child and is 4 years old. He is the total opposite of his sister. “G” as I like to call him is very shy and introspective.

I like this picture of him because I feel it captures his personality. It also reminds me of an early Johnny Cash portrait taken many years ago.

This summer we went swimming every other day.

We have a boy and a girl. We have an extrovert and an introvert. One shy and the other outgoing………….No matter what they are they still love hanging out with each other!

Mia and Rob’s wedding.
The rehearsal day started with a boat cruise down the Seine River to look at the various beautiful sites. From the riverside we could view Notre Dame, the Musée d’Orsay, Eiffel tower and the occasional young lovers snuggling. After the cruise everyone walked over to a cute restaurant were we took up the whole second floor. The meal was fabulous Parisian cuisine at its best. The speeches were full of laughs and touching observations. Everyone was excited to be in Paris! The wedding day for me started by photographing Mia getting ready. Her Vera Wang wedding dress was gorgeous.

Mia’s hotel over looked the Tuilleries Gardens across from the Louvre.

Rob and Mia hired a driver or as they say in France “chaueffer” : ) to drive us around the city to take pics.

Our first stop was at the Chanel building near the Palais Royal.

From there we went to the Palais Royal and walked through the gardens.

Here is Mia standing in front of a very cool Metro Station stop.

No trip to Paris is valid without a photo with the Eiffel Tower.

Everyone in Paris has time to stop and have a cafe au lait.

Not many brides have the courage to want to do this in a Vera Wang (especially BEFORE the ceremony!)

The wedding ceremony was held at St.-Germain l’Auxerrois church across the street from the Louvre. It is the oldest church in Paris.

After the ceremony the guests ventured off to the reception. The reception venue had a glass ceiling which gave the feeling that you were eating and drinking under the stars. The dark blue sky was a beautiful contrast to the warm glow of all the candlelight!

Some details of the wedding favors, flowers and yummy ice cream dessert in a globe shaped chocolate shell.

Mia wore a special Balenciaga dress she nicknamed the “egg shell dress”. It was very reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn.

The night was filled with touching and humorous toasts. A single cello was the source of the music for the whole night.

The night ended with a bunch of brave souls dancing the night away at a local disco.

In Paris………

I had a fun time waking up in the early hours of the morning to walk the streets of Paris and capture some images.

Washington DC……

In May I had a chance to visit Washington DC and see all the great historical landmarks/monuments. We were there during Memorial Day weekend which was a pretty emotional time to be in the nation’s capital. Thousands of vets from various wars come upon the mall to remember their fallen friends.
Every Memorial Day weekend in Washington DC you can hear what sounds like constant thunder. The annual “Rolling Thunder” event takes place. Over 100,000 motorcyclists (many which are veterans) congregate to raise awareness and publicize POW-MIA issues.

I snapped this pic at the Lincoln Memorial of students on a class field trip.

All work and no play makes Louis a dull boy!
